Rottendorf installs new nitrogen storage and distribution system
In collaboration with the company Dipl.-Ing. Gerhard Wellmann GmbH, a new nitrogen storage and distribution system was put into operation at Rottendorf Pharma GmbH in Ennigerloh.
Dipl.-Ing. Gerhard Wellmann GmbH was responsible for the engineering, the qualification of the complete distribution system as well as for the connection of the central liquid N2 storage and evaporator unit.
Due to the continuous extension of the production facilities on site, the number of nitrogen consumers increased significantly during the last years. The transport and the spatial supply of the cylinder bundles in the different buildings were getting more and more complicated and the related workload was increasing steadily. A holistic supply concept was developed considering not only the nitrogen quality on delivery but also ensuring the required gas quality at the point of use according to the valid EU Guidelines.
Essential parts of the new supply system in the outdoor area are the liquid nitrogen storage tank which is connected to an evaporator unit as well as the distribution system extending over the entire premises. The distribution system is built of pharmaceutical pipes of high-quality stainless steel (316l) according to class DIN 11864 and the following. A sterile filter which is installed directly behind the evaporator constitutes the sterile boundary so that each point of consumption throughout the plant is supplied with the same nitrogen quality without further filtration. The permanent monitoring of the stock including the data transmission to the gas supplier automatises the ordering process and thus reduces the workload to a minimum.
